About SGI and NST

[The Bible of Shakubuku] supervised by Taisaku Ikeda, SGI

The SGI Bible of Shakubuku (1951), supervised by Daisaku Ikeda,was published by the Soka Gakkai to train believers. The Soka Gakkai no longer publishes the Bible of Shakubuku because it promotes the Nichiren-Shoshu.

Nevertheless, SGI's fundamental doctrines have not changed with the exception of denying the that the heritage of the law is transmitted through the person of High Priest of Nichiren Shoshu. Now they claim that the heritage is only transmitted through the Successive Presidents of the Soka Gakkai.


"Shakyamuni's dharma is the dharma of the past and no longer beneficial". (page 63, The Bible of Shakubuku)

Nichiren taught; The Lotus Sutra is identical to Shakyamuni Buddha,who would enter Nirveana and never appear in front of those who do not believe in the Lotus Sutra but would always appear in front of those who believe in the Lotus Sutra as if he were alive in this world even after death.(P59 Shugo Kokka-ron by NOPA )

Nichiren taught;Buddhists rebel against Lord Buddha Shakyamuni while reciting His Lotus Sutra. The unfilial country referred to is this country of Japan.(P156 Soya Nyudo-dono-gari Gosho by NOPA )

"It is necessary to realize that we no longer have a connection to Shakyamuni's Buddhism." (page 65, The Bible of Shakubuku)

Nichiren taught; The nation of Japan today has turned its back on the Lotus Sutra and cast aside Shakyamuni Buddha. For that reason, its people are not only bound to fall into the great citadel of the Avici Hell in the next existence, but they will surely encounter great troubles in their present existence as well.(P371 Letter to Ichinosawa Nyudo,Letter of Nichiren by Columbia University Press)

Nichiren taught; If you are of same mind as Nichiren, you must be a Bodhisattva of the Earth. And since you are a Bodhisattva of the Earth, there is not the slightest doubt that you have been a disciple of the Buddha from the remotest past.(P360 The True entity of Life, Shoho Jisso sho,Letter of Nichiren by CUP)
*SGI eliminated the name of the Buddha Shakyamuni and changed to only the Buddha.

"You should know that Nichiren Daishonin is the only true Buddha in Mappo-era." (page 67, The Bible of Shakubuku)

"Buddha Shakamuni is inferior to the true Buddha Nichiren." (page316, The Bible of Shakubuku)

Nichiren taught; There are three reasons why Shakyamuni Buddha has a relationship with all the people of this Saha world. First of all he is the World-Honored One, the sovereign of the people of this Saha world. The second reason is that Shakyamuni Buddha is the father and mother of all the person in this Saha world. The third reason is that Shakyamuni is the original teacher of all persons in this Saha world(P123 The Tripitaka Master shan-wu-wei, Zenmui Sanzou Sho, Letters of Nichiren by CUP)

Nichiren taught; Although I myself may be insignificant, I propagate the Lotus Sutra and therefore am the envoy of Shakyamuni Buddha.(P333 On Various Actions, Shujyu Onfurumai Gosho, Selected Writings of Nichiren by CUP)

"The Lotus Sutra which is the long-cherished wish of Buddha Shakamuni is no longer valid in this era, not in the least." (page93, The Bible of Shakubuku)

Nichiren taught; No matter what happens, abandoning the Lotus Sutra will cause us to be plunged into hell.(P105 Open Your Eyes, Kaimoku Sho by NOPA )

Nichiren taught; Whether tempted by good or threatened by evil, if one casts aside the Lotus Sutra, he destines himself for hell.(P137 the Openening of the Eyes, Selected Writings of Nichiren by CUP)

"If you don't worship the Gohonzon of NST (SGI), you will know no well-being in the age of Mappo." (page70, The Bible of Shakubuku)

"If you worship the Honzon of a wicked religion, you will naturally experience misfortune (page280, The Bible of Shakubuku).

"All other sects except NST (SGI) are wicked religions and are a negative influence on society. (page286, The Bible of Shakubuku)

"The teachings of Buddha Shakamuni is as useless as last year's calendar. If you are guided by his teachings, your life will surely fail as a logical result." (page303,The Bible of Shakubuku)

"Every person who doesn't worship the Gohonzon of Fuji-Taiseki temple (SGI) are bad people who slander the true dharma.' (page314, The Bible of Shakubuku)

"The family which believes in the so-called Nichiren-shu will have children who have deformities, mental retardation or madness."(page321, The Bible of Shakubuku)

"All other sects except NST (SGI) are false heresies who exert a bad influence on society." (page323, The Bible of Shakubuku)

PS: Nichiren-shoshu(Taiseki-ji) insists that Gohonzon is the evidence which Nichiren shonin entrusted with Honmon-Kaidan. But it already had been proved that their Gohonzon was a fake. It means that, the story of Nichiren-shoshu is a fabrication. It is not only matters of authenticity of that Honzon.

There was a newspaper article of Mainiti News Paper about the argument between Kempon and Taisekiji in 11th Nov in 1900.

The first argument between Honda Nissho of Kempon Hokke and Abe Jisho of Fuji sect(Taisekiji) started. They criticized each other about the succession of the Dharma by Nichiren shonin. Rev.Nissho asserted successfully the Succession of the Scrolls with evidences of Nichiren’s works and the Lotus sutra. But Rev.Jisho could not refute sufficiently against him, being at a loss for an answer.

At the moment when the defeat of Fuji sect would be definite, one of believers of Fuji placarded “Great victory of Fuji sect” on the wall. Believers of Kempon said ” Tear off the placard!” with anger. Hirata, one of managers of Fuji sect tried to hit at Rev.Nissho under this uproar. The uproar was becoming bigger and bigger, then the picketing captain ordered breakup.

There is the evidence of Kempon’s victory as a newspaper article. But SGI and NST continue to tell a lie.

SGI(Soka Gakkai) and NST(Nichiren Sho-shu) distort Nichiren's doctrine to expand their domination and financial power.

SGI and NST brainwash their believers and teach them, "The teachings of Buddha Shakamuni is useless for us".

SGI pretends to be a peace-loving organization. However SGI educates their believers to beat other sects by using slanders and abuses as SHAKUBUKU. They use double standards as a tactics.

SHAKUBUKU not means to convert people to intolerant specific religion by persistent argument. Original SHAKUBUKU of St.Nichiren means to warn severely against bad behavior influenced by mistaken doctrine of religions whenever the world is in disturbance and sufferings.

Protecting the true dharma is for peace and prosperity of the world. We should protect and spread the true dharma for harmony and unity of all of things.Therefore if you do SHAKUBUKU, you need to make up your mind with mercy to receive abusive language and behaviors from thoughtless people.

Furthermore, St.Nichiren has taught us that denouncing to bad people and priest who destroy the teaching of Buddha is a duty of well learned priest, not a religious work of lay people, and also should not give an offering to bad priests and so on.

We hope that SGI's and NST's believers come back to the teaching of eternal Buddha and the true Nichiren’s doctrine. Please join us to get beautiful and strong eternal life. Let's challenge to establish an ideal world.

In SGI's Japanese newspaper[Seikyo], SGI's executives are blaming opposite people and sects by using vulgar words day after day.

The true Buddhism is a very realistic and rational religion. With progress of the study about Buddhism in USA, it seems to be infiltrated among Western people. St.Nichiren made an effort to keep the true Buddhism of Shakamuni, refusing superstitions in the Buddhism at the risk of his life. The most important point of Buddhism is contained in Lotus sutra, Myoho Renge Kyo. And St.Nichiren said as an envoy of Buddha Shakamuni that "Buddha Shakamuni is the eternal Buddha and leads people eternally to the true teachings."

"Listen to me attentive! I will tell you about my hidden core and supernatural powers. The gods, men and asuras in the world think that I, Shakamuni Buddha, left the palace of the Shakas, sat at the place of enlightenment not far from the City of Gaya, and attained Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi[forty and odd years ago]. To tell the truth, good men, it is many hundreds of thousands of billions of nayutas of kalpas since I became the Buddha." [The Lotus Sutra translated from the Chinese by Senchu Murano]

"Listen then all of you attentively to the secret, mysterious, and supernaturally pervading power of the Tathagata. All the worlds of gods, men, and asuras consider: 'Now has Shakamuni Buddha come forth from the palace of the Sakya clan, and seated at the training place of enlightenment, not far from the city of Gaya, has attained Perfect Enlightenment.' But, my good son, since I veritably become Buddha[there have passed] infinite, boundless hundreds of thousands of myriads of kotis of nayutas of kalpas.[The Threefold Lotus Sutra published by Kosei]

But,

"You must listen carefully and hear of the Thus Come One's secret and his transcend powers. In all the worlds the heavenly and human beings and asuras all believe that the present Shakamuni Buddha, after leaving the palase of the Shakyas, seated himself in the place of practice not far from the city of Gaya and there attainted anuttara-samyak-sambodhi. But good men, it has been immeasurable, boundless hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, millions of nayutas of kalpas since I in fact attained Buddha hood." In Chapter 16, Buddha Shakamuni who attained enlightenment 40 years ago reveals the truth of himself as the eternal Buddha. But SGI seems to intend to emphasize the Thus Come One who is another Buddha Shaka by their own Lotus sutra. SGI and so forth distort interpretation of the Lotus sutra and Nichiren's works in a self-serving manner. SGI people can not know the truth doctrine forever.

SGI is not a sect of Buddhism. As the president Ikeda always has said in Japan "Let's conquer the country."　 SGI is a business enterprise using Taisekiji's doctrine which abuses Nichiren. SGI has educated people who have not knowledge of Buddhism by saying SGI is the only right sect of Buddhism. This SGI dominates SGI-USA. SGI not only takes advantage of the righteous war of St.Nichiren but keeps away people from the true Buddhism for their business. So, pious Buddhists should not stay in SGI-USA. Pious Buddhists who believe the true Nichiren's doctrine should not tolerate SGI-USA's expanding. As you say "Many Americans now think Nichiren's thoughts is nonsense", St.Nichiren will be misunderstood by ordinary people.　

SGI might change their doctrine from Taisekiji's for their religious business. But they would destruct the true doctrine of Nichiren and the true Buddhism because their true purpose is for money, power and fame. Therefore, we are not going to air messages to help SGI-USA and SGI's believers. I think Nichiren's believers who left from SGI don't want to convert to Nichiren-shu which says "Anything is OK". So, we have to establish the true sangha of Nichiren, as Kempon Hokke.


Some might say that Nichiren. who claims that followers of the Buddha of Infinite Life and Zen Buddhism will fall in the Hell of Incessant Suffering, is belligerent and therefore, will fall into the realm of asura. Moreover, it is said in the "Peaceful Practices" (14th) chapter of the Lotus sutra: "Do not try to expose the faults of other people or of other sutras and do not despise other monks."

Nichiren shonin argued against the above doubts in Kaimoku-sho(Open your eyes) by quoting the sentence of Nirvana sutra.

I will cite the Nirvana Sutra:"Suppose there is a virtuous monk who does not accuse anyone of harming Buddhism, does not try to purge or punish him. You should know that such a monk is an enemy of Buddhism. In case the monk accuses such a man, purges, and punishes him. such a monk is a disciple of the Buddha who truly follows Him. Grand Master Chang-an explains this in his Annotations on the Nirverna Sutra: Those who destroy Buddhism are those within Buddhism working against Buddhism. Those heartless people who keep friendly relationships with such evil doers by overlooking their sins are their enemies. Those who are kind enough to try to correct them are the upholders of the True Dharma and true disciples of the Buddha. To prevent a friend from committing evil is really a friendly act. Therefore, one who accuses those of harming Buddhism is the Buddha's disciple; and one who does not purge evil doers is an enemy of the Buddhism.

Old Nichiren-shu insisted Shoju-practice in samurai-era to avoid the oppression from the shogunate. Now, many priests of Nichiren-shu insist Shoju-practice to behave like gentle and peaceful sect. They say "Nichiren shonin used to act as like Bodhisattva Fukyo. Bodhisattva Fukyo respected all people by worshipping. So, we have to respect all people." Then they are willing to abandon Nichiren's practice. They dislike to be blamed like Nichiren shonin. I criticized Niciren-shu's high priest who insists "Shoju" at an open debate in 2001. My counterargument is on website Japanese version.

Bodhisattva Fukyo not only respected all people by worshipping. Who persecute man who respects people? He advised people to do the practices of Bodhisattvas to become a Buddha. Then he was persecuted by Hinayana people because it was the right doctrine of Mahayana. Nichiren shonin advised that people should worship the eternal Buddha Shakamuni of the Lotus sutra. He criticized other sects that abandoned the eternal Buddha Shakyamuni of the Lotus sutra, then he was persecuted by them. Therefore, Nichiren shonin said that his behavior to say right doctrine was the same of practice of Bodhisattva Fukyo.

If you fight with evil people who slander the eternal Buddha Shakamuni and his Lotus sutra, the ties with the eternal Buddha Shakamuni will be strong. It is Nichiren's important practice. Almost Japanese sects now don't slander the Buddha Shakyamuni obviously because their doctrine has contradictions. But only SGI and NST(Nichiren-shoshu) slander the Buddha Shakyamuni and say that the Buddha Shakyamuni and his Lotus sutra are useless. And SGI has become the biggest religious organization by using Nichiren's works for the evil purpose. Kempon Hokke has to read Kaimoku-sho correctly and do our best.

Quitting the SGI? Then Leave the Nichiren Shu Alone. It Would be Best to Join the Kempon Hokke.

Nichiren-shu [as the SGI] uses inauthentic and forged writings to prove the validity of their fictitious imaginary doctrines and perverted practices. For example, there are no sentences in Nichiren's authentic writings that form the basis of the following Nichiren Shu doctrines:

Nichiren-shu teaches, as the SGI, that human beings are essentially Buddhas but Nichiren shonin teaches that we live with the Eternal Buddha Shakyamuni in our mind.

Nichiren-shu says that the universe itself is the eternal Buddha but Nichiren Shonin teaches that there is no difference between your mind and the universe.

Nichiren shonin teaches that Honmon, which explains the Eternal Buddha, is superior to Shakumon but Nichiren-shu says that Honmon and Shakumon are equally valid.

Nichiren shonin says that the Eternal Buddha Shakyamuni is the only one we should worship but Nichiren-shu teaches that you should worship many deities and various Bodhisattvas for your benefits.

Nichiren shonin teaches that fortune-telling and incantations are not the right way of practice but because the people like magic, the Nichiren-shu says that they are ways of leading people to the truth.
